Buggy's Sign Language

When Aaron was born, our wonderful friends Tiffany and Derek gave us a baby sign language book. As Buggy turned 9-months old, we tried teaching him sign language and he showed no interest so we gave up.

But a couple months ago, he started signing on his own. I was surprised he remembered after all that time (and I made a mental note not to curse in front of him).

Buggy is using sign language to communicate the words he can't say yet. He often makes up his own signs. Here's a sampling of Buggy's vocabulary:

Please (hand swipe over the heart)
This is a real sign.

Cheerios (make an "O" with your hand)
Here, he's pretending to eat his "O."

Stars, what we call his corn puffs because they look like...stars (fingertips rub each other)

Yogurt ("Y" like a peace sign).
It looks like the number "1" when Buggy does it.

Water (supposed to be just one arm up)
He might be confusing it with "Go Crazy!"

More (both hands come together at fingertips)
This is a real sign.

All Done
This is a modification of the real sign.
Here, Buggy is rejecting the rest of his yogurt by saying he's all done.

What Now?
This actually isn't a sign, but doesn't it look like he's asking, "What now? Stop making me do all these signs!"

Yay! You made a "shout out" to the Shaw's... I love it! I'm so glad that you guys are utilizing sign language. I hope to do that too... It's crazy that Aaron remembered from how long ago? Weird...
