Me and My Blankie

We saw a Blues Clues episode where each character got labeled so we did the same at home.

We call Aaron's blanket "matted part" because a small part of it is so permanently matted down that it cannot be washed back to its original, fluffy state.

The matted part was produced by a lot of repeated drooling, biting and handling.

Aaron treats his blanket like a real person.

When he was looking for it, he called out, "Blankie!...BLANKIE!" When there was no answer, Aaron got more specific and yelled, "Matted Part!" Yet there was still no response.

Another time, Aaron couldn't reach a ball that fell underneath the couch so he threw his blankie in after it. Hmmm, still no response.

Recently, Aaron asked me to fix his toy bulldozer, which I wasn't able to fix. Not willing to give up, he laid the two broken toy pieces on his blanket and said, "Matted Part, fix it!" After a few moments, Aaron laughed and told me, "He can't fix it -- he's a BLANKIE!"

I'm glad Aaron finally figured that out.
